During a recent meeting with Italian minister of economic development Claudio Scajola, Egyptian Premier Ahmed Nazif underlined the significance of Egyptian-Italian ties and appealed to Italian companies to participate in developing Egypt’s railways where new investments worth more than €3 billion are envisaged.

Meanwhile, minister of foreign trade and industry Rasheed Mohamed Rasheed held a joint press conference in Cairo with Scajola, saying that cooperation between Egypt and Italy has witnessed a “quantum leap” with the volume of trade exchange between the two countries doubling to €5 billion. Italian investments in Egypt, he said, are growing. He added that the talks between Scajola and Nazif would boost bilateral cooperation, especially in the fields of tourism, banking, energy and transport.
