TRANSNET LOSING RAMOS & VAN NIEKERK
On 9 February, it was announced that Transnet chief operating officer Louis van Niekerk is to leave at the end of March, though he has agreed to assist with a “smooth transition” after this date.  The news followed Maria Ramos’ decision to step down as chief executive at the end of February. Formerly CEO at Iscor, van Niekerk was headhunted by Ramos in her first management reshuffle. According to the announcement, he “has been part of the executive team that led the operational, strategic and cultural turnaround of Transnet as well as the implementation of the company’s five-year capital expenditure programme”. No decision  about replacement appointments was known at the time of going to press.

Ramos also appointed Chief Financial Officer Chris Wells, as well as senior executives Pradeep Maharaj and Moira Moses.
